Covenant University is located in Ota, Ogun State and was founded in October 2002, by the presiding Bishop David Oyedepo of Faith Tabernacle, aka Winners Chapel. Widely regarded as the best private university in Nigeria, its academic programme is run in 4 colleges namely, College of Science and Technology, College of Engineering, College of Leadership Development Studies, and the College of Business and Social Sciences. It also runs a postgraduate program, has a population of about 15000 students and is currently ranked 1790th in the world.

The University of Ibadan, popularly known as UI is the oldest university in Nigeria. and was established in 1948. It is located in Ibadan, Oyo state. Besides the College of Medicine, there are 11 other faculties including the faculty of Arts, Law and Technology and 33,841 students. It became the first Nigerian university to make top 1000 in the Times Higher Education rankings. It is currently ranked 1336th in the world.
