Summer is here, yipeee! (I know, we are in Nigeria and we only have two ‘seasons’ but it’s a holiday so get with the program.) I mean, students will have a long holiday and so will teachers. Also, some people will be on leave this period, so yes, it’s summer.

It’s a great time to travel and see new places, experience new things and have new adventures. But there’s only so much travelling you can do with our green passport. Getting visas can be a long and sometimes unfruitful process.

But here’s the catch, you can visit some cool places as a Nigerian without needing a visa, or where you get a visa on arrival. Here are 5 of them.

  1. Dominica (visa free for 21 days):

The Commonwealth of Dominica is an island country with such a natural environment that it is sometimes called the nature isle of the Caribbean. The country is filled with hot springs, waterfalls, rainforests, mountains, rare and exotic plant animal and bird species. the second largest boiling lake in the world is in Dominica. The most common activities for tourists is hiking, sightseeing and exploring cruise ships.

  1. Cape Verde (visa on arrival):

Cape Verde is off the coast of West Africa. Some activities tourists can engage in on this island country are snorkeling, wind and kite surfing and white sand beaches.

  1. The Gambia (visa free for 90 days):

The Republic of Gambia lies on both sides of the Gambia river. It is a small but beautiful country. The capital, Banjul, is a tourist hot spot. It is also where the River Gambia enters into the Atlantic Ocean. Tourists can visit crocodile pools, museums, beaches and nature reserves.

  1. Fiji (visa free for four months):

Fiji is an archipelago that consists of more than 300 islands, 110 of which are inhabited permanently. Fiji’s white sand beaches and beautiful scenery has made it very popular with visitors. Because it has coral reefs, scuba diving is one of the main activities a tourist may engage in. They may also visit sand dunes and forest parks.

  1. Maldives (visa on arrival):

The beaches of Maldives have pristine clear waters that are aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps this is why it is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world. You can even dine underwater in the Ithaa undersea restaurant. There are over a hundred resorts to choose from.
