Ten Most and Least Liveable Cities in the World 2019

The Economist Intelligence Unit has released the annual Global Liveability Index of 140 cities around the world. The index considers more than 30 qualitative and quantitative factors spanning five broad categories, weighted as follows: stability (25%), healthcare (20%), culture and environment (25%), education (10%), and infrastructure (20%). In-house analysts and local contributors are tasked with rating for qualitative factors on a scale of 1-100.

Vienna, the capital of Austria takes first place for the second year in a row as the world’s most liveable city. In second place is Melbourne, Australia which had previously held the top spot for seven years in a row until it was toppled by Vienna last year.

Lagos, Nigeria unfortunately ranked as the second worst liveable city in the world, thanks to its over population, congestion, pollution among others.
