List of Accounts Hacked By Bitcoin Hackers

On Wednesday July 15, twitter suffered a major security breach as a host of celebrity twitter accounts were compromised by hackers. The attacks began with prominent companies and their CEOs before moving to prominent politicians and celebrities. Over the course of several hours, compromised accounts sent out tweets asking their millions of followers to send cryptocurrency to a specific Bitcoin wallet with the promise of getting back double their amount.

Twitter described the attack as a “coordinated social engineering attack” against some of their employees with “access to internal systems and tools”. In response, twitter locked down all affected accounts and reduced functionality of all verified accounts while investigation continues.
