Afrobeats New Cats To Keep An Eye On In 2024
List of new Afrobeats stars killing it on the big stage rght now

The Nigerian music industry is always buzzing with new talents and fresh sounds. It’s an exciting time when everyone is striving to showcase their unique artistry and creativity. The competition can be tough but it also pushes artists to put in their best and deliver amazing music. In no particular order, here are five rising stars to look out for this year.

It’s fascinating to learn about these talented Nigerian artists making waves in the music industry. Each artist seems to have a unique style and contributions to the diverse music scene. Here’s a summary of the highlighted artists:

  • Shallipopi (Crown Uzama):

Known for the hit single “Elon Musk” which reached number one on the Nigerian Top 100 Apple Music chart in 2023.

Remarkable impact on the music industry and continues to gain popularity. We expect him to tear it up in 2024 and we’ll be on the lookout for that.

  • Qing Madi (Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma):

Gained recognition with the hit single “See Finish” in 2022 and further solidified her success with “Ole” featuring BNXN in 2023.

Achieved number one spot on the Uganda and Nigeria Top 100 Apple Music charts.

  • Odumodu Blvck

When you hear an ODUMODUBLVCK verse, the first noticeable thing is how bold and fearless he sounds. He raps with a kind of confidence and intensity similar to a soldier in a serious and unemotional battle.

With multiple hits already including a very successful body of work in 2023, the “Eziokwu” crooner will look to take it up a notch this year and for this reason, he’s one to keep an eye on.

  • Morravey

Morravey, one-half of the DMW 2.0 flagship artists, made a noteworthy introduction to listeners through a standout chorus on ‘In The Garden,’ a track from Davido’s highly successful fourth album, ‘Timeless.’

With her debut body of work, “RAVI” in 2023, Morravey not only demonstrates her striking vocal dexterity but also reveals a broad range and appeal, indicating the potential for significant success and growth in her musical journey.

She’s definitely one to keep an eye on in 2024.

  • Nasboi (Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji):

Popular skit maker Nasboi dropped one of the top contenders for song of the year “Umbrella” featuring Wande Coal in November 2023. He has been seen performing in different shows across the country after scoring a hit.

We believe Nasboi will be looking to break more ground with his music and we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a body of work in there somewhere.

We will be on the lookout regardless.

  • Ayox (Ayomide Bakare Iyanuoluwa):

Gained popularity after covering “People” by Libianca in 2023.

His tribute song to the late Mohbad, titled ‘Walking Dead,’ topped charts on iTunes and Spotify.

Ayox is one to watch in 2024.

  • Guchi (Ugochi Lydia Onuoha):

A vibrant and talented Afropop singer making waves in the Nigerian music scene. Went viral with tracks like ‘All Over You’ and ‘Feeling Good’ featuring Bayanni.

Considered one of the top emerging female artists in the country, with a sound reminiscent of Afrobeats stars like Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage. She’s one of the female artists to keep an eye on in 2024.

  • Lifesize Teddy

Lifesize Teddy is a 23-year-old rapper, poet, and vocalist signed to Mavin Records.

Acknowledging Naeto C, Sasha P, and Eva Alordiah, as inspirations, who have been pioneers in their approaches and have paved the way for others in the Nigerian music scene, we expect that Lifesize Teddy will walk in their shoes too by bringing innovation to contemporary African music and elevate the status of local hip-hop.

  • Zerrydl

Zerrydl is a fast-rising Afrobeat artist, rapper, and songwriter whose trajectory from sharing rap videos on TikTok to gaining recognition through the success of his 2023 hit, “Puff & Pass,” signals a promising start to his music career.

Zerrydlledendary has displayed versatility across different tracks such as “Grind Freestyle,” “Ifeoma,” “Look at Me” featuring Shallipopi, and the “Puff & Pass” remix.

Anticipating more from him in 2024, we believe Zerrydl is an artist to keep an eye on, given the unique elements he brings to the Afrobeat and Afropluto genres.

  • Raebel

Raebel gained fame when social media influencer, Tunde Ednut reposted her freestyle on Instagram which gained thousands of views. Her debut single “Miniskirt”, shows her musical prowess and has been doing good numbers since its release. Raebel’s journey is just beginning and we believe there’s more to come from the fast-rising singer.
