“No Gree For Anybody”

At the start of a new year, it’s common for people to make resolutions and assert their stance on various matters. This was evident with the viral social media trend “No Gree For Anybody,” meaning “Don’t tolerate nonsense from anyone.” The phrase resonated widely, with both young and old embracing it during the early months of the year. However, it also sparked some controversies, as many appeared to overreact in situations that required restraint, using the trend as justification for their actions.

“Pluto Dance Challenge”

Earlier this year, a video of Afrobeats star and self-proclaimed “Pluto President,” Shallipopi, went viral, showcasing him performing the signature Pluto dance with his brother Zerry DL. The dance quickly became a sensation, dominating clubs, parties, religious gatherings, and more. It stands out as one of the most prominent Afrobeats trends of the year.

Koroba Hairstyle

A once outdated hairstyle made a major comeback in 2024, becoming a significant trend as many women embraced and proudly showcased it once again.

“Had It Been I Know You Now

The trend began after a clip of a woman during a dating interview went viral, where she used the statement. Since then, the phrase has been widely adopted across social media for various types of content.

Just Give Me My Money

Another trend that swept through 2024 involved participants humorously saying the phrase “Just give me my money” in a funny voice, followed by cheers and applause—except for one person who is deliberately left out. The trend originated from Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, who has over 12 million followers. Cenat was known to have introduced the phrase during a January livestream with rapper DreamDoll, singing it to a melody reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar’s song “Love.”

President General Among The Nation

According to reports, the song “President General Among the Nation,” originally recorded by singer Bisong Constance, took TikTok by storm, becoming a dance sensation among Gen Z and users worldwide. This track gained massive attention, sparking a popular dance routine to accompany it. Although it was first released in October 2021 and initially overlooked, it found new life after being adopted by the unassuming choir of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Church. Their performances at various church events propelled the song into viral fame.

Tshwala Bam Dance”

This dance challenge became a viral trend after a video of three young men flawlessly performing choreographed moves to the song Tshwala Bam.

Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo Challenge

After 41 years, Mike Ejeagha’s classic “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” experienced a resurgence, sparking a viral dance challenge. The trend took off after popular comedian and content creator Brain Jotter initiated the challenge, inspiring numerous celebrities and the general public to create their own versions.

1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8 Challenge”

The 12345678 Challenge is a viral rap trend where participants creatively structure their lyrics to incorporate the numbers one through eight. The challenge starts with a full bar featuring all the numbers, progressively removing one number per bar in subsequent lines.

Davido’s Dodo Dance”

When it comes to trends, TikTok is always in the driver’s seat. In October, Davido’s 2015 hit single “Dodo” made a surprising comeback on the platform after a group of dancers created a viral routine. The trend gained so much momentum that Davido himself joined in and even reintroduced the track to his concert setlist.
