Since the introduction of cinemas in Nigeria, movie producers and directors have jumped on the train, seeking to cash in on the potential goldmine. While some have had epic fails, some others have excelled and have rolled in the big bucks.
AY’s 30 Days in Atlanta broke the record for highest grossing Nigerian film back in 2014, but that record has since been taken from him by The Wedding Party, and with the rapid growth of Nigerian cinema more of these box office records are expected to be broken.
However for now, here are the top 10 highest grossing Nigerian Films of all time.
1. The Wedding Party 2 (2017)

The Wedding Party is a 2016 romantic comedy drama film directed by first time director Kemi Adetiba. It premiered on September 8 2016 at the Toronto International Film Festival and released world wide on December 16 2016.
3. Chief Daddy (2018)
Domestic Gross: ₦387,000,000
Chief Daddy was produced by EbonyLife Studios and was the highest grossing Nigerian film in 2018.
4. King of Boys (2018)
Domestic Gross: ₦232,000,000
King of Boys is a 2018 thriller written, co-produced and directed by Kemi Adetiba. It had a star studded cast which included Sola Sobowale, Adesuwa Etomi, Reminisce, Illbliss, Toni Tones, amongst others.
5. Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons (2018)
Domestic Gross : ₦230,000,000
Merry Men is a film about four rich men (the Merry Men), who seduce powerful women, get contracts from the political elite, steal from the rich, give to the poor and have sex with the hottest women in town. The movie was written and produced by AY Makun.
6. A Trip to Jamaica (2016)
Domestic Gross : ₦178,500,000
A Trip to Jamaica is a comedy drama film directed by Robert Peters and produced by AY. It stars Ayo Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ekpe Etim and Dan Davies. It tells a story about the adventures of a newly engaged couple in their relatives residence outside Nigeria as well as the shenanigans that ensue
7. 10 Days in Sun City (2017)
Domestic Gross : ₦177,000,000
10 Days in Sun City tells of an aspiring beauty queen who was brought to stardom and in the process had to pay the price of losing her peace and joy by denouncing her fiancé who happened to be her manager as well. The film was directed by Adze Ugha and produced by AY
8. 30 Days in Atlanta (2014)
Domestic Gross : ₦137,200,000
30 Days in Atlanta was the highest grossing film of all time in Nigerian cinemas in 2015 and holds a world record. It tells the story of Akpors’ adventure in Atlanta. The movie stars AY, Ramsey Nuoah Richard Mofe Damijo, among others.
9. Fifty (2016)
Domestic Gross : ₦94,000,000
Fifty captures few pivotal days of four women, Tola, Elizabeth, Maria and Kate, at the pinnacle of their careers. It had Mo Abudu as executive producer and was directed by Biyi Bandele.
