Anikulapo – Rise Of The Spectre: What To Expect From The Sequel

On Tuesday, 30th of January 2024, Netflix unveiled the official trailer for Kunle Afolayan’s “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre,” a sequel originating from the successful film “Anikulapo.”

The video, released earlier today Tuesday, January 30, 2024, gives a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming epic series. The series picks up the event from where the movie left off, following the life of Saro and his wife.

Akala – The Mysterious Bird Is Back

In the first part, the mysterious bird Akala revived Saro (Kunle Remi), and is also back but not as friendly as the people would have liked. The four-part series will explore the themes of betrayal, revenge, and the fight for ultimate power.

Returning Nollywood Stars, Fan Favourites And Exciting New Additions 

Kunle Remi is reprising his role as Saro, and Bimbo Ademoye is returning as Rolake. The once-lovers now turned foes are joined by a diverse cast of Nollywood veterans and stars, including Adebayo Salami, Layi Wasabi, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi, Jide Kosoko, Adeniyi Johnson, Funky Mallam, and more.

Transcends Multiple Cultures 

Based on the behind-the-scenes pictures shared by Producer and Director Kunle Afolayan, it appears that the movie will go beyond cultural boundaries. This adds another thrilling aspect to look forward to when the movie is released.

Shot on location at KAP Film Village and Resort in Igbojaiye, Oyo State, Nigeria,

“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” was produced by KAP Motion Pictures in collaboration with Golden Effects Pictures and involves a large team comprising over 600 cast and crew members. The principal photography for the movie concluded in July 2023.

Final Thoughts

When it first came out in 2022, the movie quickly became the number 1 on Netflix worldwide, with over 8.7 million views in less than 2 weeks. It also received several awards at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), including Best Movie in Africa, Best Writer, and Best Soundtrack. 

Anticipations are high for similar accomplishments as the movie is set to be released on the 1st of March. Fingers crossed.
