It’s a remarkable achievement for Nigerian music as Burna Boy and Davido, two Afrobeats heavyweight Artistes, secure nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards. The nominees for the 66th award ceremony were unveiled on Friday evening.
Davido, in particular, is celebrating his inaugural Grammy nomination with recognition in three categories. These include ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest release, ‘Timeless,’ ‘Best African Performance’ for the track “Unavailable,” and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for the song ‘Feel.’
Expressing his joy on social media, Davido shared the news with his followers, stating, “DELAY IS NOT DENIAL 🏆🏆 🏆 thank you @recordingacademy” on Instagram. This acknowledgment not only highlights the individual successes of Burna Boy and Davido but also underscores the increasing global influence of Nigerian and African music in the international music scene.
Davido alongside Asake (with Olamide), Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy receive nominations for the Grammy Awards in the Best African Music Performance category. The nominated tracks are:
