20 biggest Nigerian songs of 2017

  1. Juice – Ycee ft Maleek Berry || Mar 31, 2017

Juice was one of the biggest records of 2nd quarter 2017 and it is definitely Ycee’s best work so far. We’re saying this, with full knowledge that Ycee made monster hits like Omo Alhaji and Jagaban – that is to tell you how brilliant Juice was. I mean, it had Diddy and his friends bumping to it. What are you saying again? Shout out to the producer, Adey Ogunlesi, and Maleek Berry for lacing his vocals too. The song has too much juice too much sauce.

  1. All over – Tiwa Savage || April 9, 2017

It is not every song that immediately grows on people. But when Tiwa Savage performed this song at the Big Brother Nigeria finale on the 9th of April 2017, most people knew it was a hit. And they were not wrong. Her first single in over a year, and since signing a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, this song basically restored Tiwa’s position as queen of Nigerian music, and put her back ‘there’, after her marital issues almost brought her down. Welcome back Queen Tiwa.

  1. For Life – Runtown || May 12, 2017

Runtown had the biggest song of last quarter 2016 and (arguably) the biggest overall song that year. He was still riding the waves of Mad Over You when he dropped ‘For Life’ in May 2017. Produced by KrizBeatz, it didn’t take long for the song to grow on everyone. It felt like a more melancholic version of Mad Over You; something one could rock to, while wearing sweatshirts and holding the person he/she loves. The video was also steamy, and made a lot of people want to love somebody for life.

  1. Fall – Davido || June 2, 2017

With If still topping charts and getting heavily rotated on Radio and clubs, Davido dropped Fall, produced by Kidominant. It quickly went up the charts and stayed there for a long time. Cristiano Ronaldo even followed him on Instagram because of the song, and so far the video has been seen 44 million times on YouTube.

  1. Mama – Mayorkun || July 5, 2017

Remember that year when Olamide went on stage to call out the Headies for not giving Lil Kesh the Next Rated award? When he said “every single was a hit, back to back?” That same line applied to Mayorkun in 2017, as every song he dropped further established him as a power act. As a matter of fact, Mama will not be his only song to appear on this list. Davido really signed a gem.

  1. Easy (Jeje) – Reekado Banks || July 29, 2017

Seemingly the hardest working Mavin act at the moment, Reekado Banks dropped Easy (Jeje) late July and it quickly became one of the biggest groovy-feely songs that period. Produced by in-house producer, Altims, it stayed on the charts for a long time and earned the 2015 Headies Next Rated winner a highly coveted spot on this list.
