Nonso Amadi

The Nigerian music industry is ever dynamic, infusing multiple genres but still maintaining its core Nigerian sound. The year 2017 holds a lot more promise than recent years as more artists with different styles and sounds are emerging.

Here we take a look at 10 upcoming Nigerian artistes to watch out for in the year 2017 and who we hope can reach their full potential.

  1. Terry Apala

Born Terry Alexandar Ejeh is a very unique artist and has literally created his own genre of music called “Apala Hip Hop”. He got inspired by the late Apala music legend Haruna Ishola and has fused that Apala style with Hip Hop creating a sound never heard before.

Apart from being a brilliant singer, Terry Apala is also a song writer and has recently gained recognition for his writing prowess by working with Annie Macaulay-Idibia on a soundtrack for the movie “Calabar Girls”. He has also worked with A-list artists like Olamide, Phyno, Orezi, and Fuse. He is currently signed to Merit Records and Entertainment.
