Traffic has always been a problem in Lagos, and since the ban on motorcycles and tricycles took effect on February 1, 2020, the situation has gotten even worse. As a result of the lack of alternative transport systems, the traffic has become unbearable and thousands of people are left stranded everyday. However, despite the severity of Lagos traffic, it is nothing compared to what is experienced in other parts of the world. According to the 2019 edition of TomTom’s Traffic Index, Lagos does not even rank among the most traffic congested cities in Africa. Bengaluru in India holds the title of the worst traffic in the world, whle Egypt golds that title in Africa.
