The 2025 Grammy Nominations: Beyoncé Breaks Records as Afrobeats Icons Asake, Wizkid, Davido & Burna Boy Earn Nominations.

The 2025 Grammy nominations are here, and once again, Beyoncé reigns supreme with 11 nods, setting a new record with 99 career nominations. Following close behind are Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX, each with seven, while Taylor Swift claims six in a comparatively quiet year. Rising stars Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan make a splash, each securing six nominations in their Grammys debut.

The Album of the Year race spans a diverse lineup, including André 3000’s experimental New Blue Sun and Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4. Meanwhile, Record of the Year highlights hits from industry heavyweights, along with the Beatles’ “Now and Then” and Kendrick Lamar’s fiery “Not Like Us.” The latter song has roots in his much-publicized feud with Drake.

First-time nominees make a strong showing: Shaboozey grabs five nominations, and Doechii lands three, while the late Chick Corea adds three posthumous nominations to his tally. On a different note, country star Zach Bryan abstains from the Grammys, citing discomfort with awards culture.

Turning to the international scene with major focus on Africa, the Best Global Music Performance category highlights an array of world talent, from Angélique Kidjo & Soweto Gospel Choir’s uplifting “Sunlight to My Soul” to Sheila E.’s collaboration with Gloria Estefan and Mimy Succar on “Bemba Colorá.” Other standout nominees include Arooj Aftab’s “Raat Ki Rani” and Jacob Collier’s collaborative “A Rock Somewhere.”

The Best African Music Performance category showcases African heavyweights, including Burna Boy for “Higher” and Tems with “Love Me JeJe.” Asake & Wizkid join the lineup with “MMS,” alongside Chris Brown’s team-up with Davido & Lojay on “Sensational,” and Yemi Alade’s inspirational “Tomorrow.”

Finally, for Best Global Music Album, the contenders are a rich blend of sounds: Antonio Rey’s Historias de un Flamenco, Ciro Hurtado’s Paisajes, Matt B & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Alkebulan II, Rema’s Heis, and Tems’ Born in the Wild.
