  • 6 killed, scores missing as Boko-Haram attacks Gov Shettima’s convoy

No fewer than six persons were killed, Tuesday evening, as Boko Haram insurgents opened fire on the convoy of Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, who was on his way to a political rally at Gamboru-Ngala. The attack was said to have occurred as some armed Boko Haram insurgents in three gun truck vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft guns and motorcycles laid ambush on the convoy at about 6 pm, raining bullets on vehicles at the back of the convoy. Killing 2 soldiers, a house of representative candidate and others whose bodies where found after the galley. The report also records that a lot of people (mostly women) were said to be missing probably abducted by insurgents, during the attack.

  • Google, UBA collaborate to provide free Wi-Fi to customers

Africa’s global bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has collaborated with Google and ISP partner to launch Google Station in 11 key UBA branches in Lagos State as part of plans to roll out 200 stations in the country.Google Station, a platform for providing free, high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots in public places, began in Lagos last year, and extended to Abuja in December in partnership with Backbone Connectivity Network. The 11 branches where the hotspot will be located are: UBA Bank Road, 810-811 Bank Road, Daleko; UBA Matori, 21 Fatai Atere street; UBA Surulere, 152 Ogunlana Drive; UBA Allen, 13 Allen Avenue, Ikeja; UBA Tisco Plaza, Alausa; UBA Apapa, 11-13 Warehouse Road, Apapa; UBA Marina, 55 Marina, Lagos Island; UBA HQ, Broad Street, Marina; UBA Lekki Admiralty; UBA Oke Arin and UBA Aspamda Plaza, Trade Fair.

  • Buhari, Atiku, Other Presidential Candidates Sign Second Peace Accord

President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other candidates have signed a second peace accord ahead of Saturday’s presidential election.

The presidential candidates signed the agreement on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Those who witnessed the signing included the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland; former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd); Bishop Mathew Kukah, as well as other members of the National Peace Committee (NPC).

  • 2019 elections: Umahi declares Friday public holiday

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has declared Friday, Feb. 15 a public holiday to enable citizens travel to areas where they registered for the elections and vote, in other to prevent citizens from traveling on the election day.

Umahi made the declaration while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, noting that the directive was in conformity with the powers vested on him as the state governor.

  • EFCC Apprehends 14 Internet Fraudsters with Fetish tools

14 suspected internet fraudsters have been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, with some fetish items recovered from them. The suspects who are believed to be undergraduates were arrested in Awa area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. They were arrested at their residence following series of intelligence reports on their alleged involvements in cyber crimes. They where arrested alongside a lot of there tools; Cars, over 100 Sim cards, laptops and cell phones.
