Wrapping Up AFCON 2025: A Look Back at the Teams That Showed Up in Style

As AFCON 2025 draws to a close today with the final showdown between Morocco and Senegal, it feels like the right moment to rewind to how it all began. Before the goals, upsets and talking points took over the tournament, teams first announced themselves the moment they arrived.

Not every team pulled up with fashion in mind, and that’s completely fine. For many, the focus was on football, preparation and results. But a few teams made it clear that arrivals are more than logistics; they are the first visual statement of confidence, identity and intent. From coordinated fits to subtle cultural nods, these teams proved that style and sport can coexist without distraction, showing that culture still has a place in the game.

Here’s a look at the teams that made an impression off the pitch, setting the tone for AFCON 2025 from day one:

Nigeria (Super Eagles)

Naija no dey carry last! The Super Eagles arrived in Morocco in coordinated deep-green traditional sets with intricate light-green embroidery and matching caps, delivering a bold, unified look rooted in Nigerian heritage.

Côte d’Ivoire (Elephants)

Players arrived in sharp neutral-toned long Kaftans accented with bold details reflecting Ivorian elegance.

Mali (Eagles)

The squad arrived in a sparkling white tunic paired with a relaxed, earth-toned Kimono Jacket and matching caps to go with, subtly nodding to traditional Malian style.

Burkina Faso (Stallions)

The Stallions of Burkina Faso arrived in dominant looks as they paired stripe tunics and white pants, combining comfort with understated team colors.

Senegal (Lions of Teranga)

Always known to pull up in well coordinated yet sophisticated outfits, the Lions of Teranga didn’t disappoint as they arrived in an off-white tunic adorned with monogrammed logos that proudly showcased their country.

Zimbabwe (The Warriors)

The Warriors looked different, arriving in sharp black tailored suit elevated with bold Zimbabwean flag accents on the pockets, sleeves, and chest, blending classic formalwear with striking national pride.

Comoros (Coelacanths)

The Coelacanths also showed up looking all elegant in cream-toned traditional robes paired with embroidered caps and gold-trim detailing, blending cultural heritage with a clean, modern travel-ready style.
