Daniella Daniel, also known as “Morravey” is a fast-rising artist signed to Davido Music Worldwide 2.0. She was first introduced to listeners when she laid her vocals on “In The Garden”, off Davido’s acclaimed Timeless Album. Her raspy vocals and impeccable delivery caught the attention of many listeners, catapulting her to instant fame. For someone with no industry experience, this turn around – she claims – is nothing short of a miracle.
On Thursday, November 2nd 2023, Morravey dropped her Debut EP titled “RAVI” which means Sun in Sanskrit Language and here’s what we know.
MORRAVEY IS HERE TO STAY
Since her feature on the Timeless Album, Morravey appears to be a breath of fresh air in an industry where almost every song and upcoming Artistes are leaning to one sound, a common trait listeners have had issues with in recent times.
On this EP, she shows she is no pushover and she isn’t one to conform to industry standards which was evident all through. It is a refreshing blend of distinctiveness and authenticity not so common today.
THE EP WAS RIGHTLY NAMED
You just know the title “RAVI” was a well thought out name for a debut body of work depicting sunlight or the rising of the sun, which mirrors what Morravey brought on the EP, the feeling of gentleness and warmth.
The EP leads us on a gradual journey, where each song signifies a shift in vibrant energy and musical prowess.
A VERSATILE MORRAVEY
The “RAVI” EP has a total of 5 songs with a listening time of 14 minutes and 4 seconds and not once did any of the songs sound the same.
It opens with a smooth blend of a mid-tempo beat and signature tone of hers in the WHAT IS LOVE song which keeps you hooked from the very beginning upon first listen. A mixture of heartfelt vocals with Afro R&B melodies. She takes the energy up a notch introducing a sense of euphoric love and youthful enthusiasm in the track HIGH AGAIN.
The feeling of a Port Harcourt born and bred musician was evident in CONDO, the third track off the EP with the use of her local language and unique beats. MY BABY, fourth track off the EP seems to us as Morravey might be getting lots of the Wedding bags as this song is set to be a Wedding anthem with the infusion of Afro-Highlife and melodious vocals.
The EP ends on a high note with the feature of the Baddest himself “Davido”, who didn’t fail to deliver like he always does.
MORE TO COME FROM MORRAVEY
This is not another drop in the ocean by a Nigerian Artiste as Morravey did a wonderful job with her debut body of work that showcases distinctiveness and versatility with more still to come from her. While the EP may not be without its minor flaws, it’s a commendable effort that’s sure to resonate with fans.
I recommend giving it a listen and immersing yourself in Morravey’s world. It’s still early days, but the RAVI EP deserves a solid 7 out of 10, and it’s a testament to the potential she’s showing.
