A lot of theories have emerged about the relationship between the much talked about 5G and the coronavirus pandemic. Several conspiracy theories have begun flying around as it is all being linked to the “New World Order”. People all over the world have even gone as far as destroying and pulling down 5G masts as a form of protest against the new technology. While these conspiracy theories continue to spread, no one actually can ascertain whether it is truth or paranoia.
However, as the theories continue to spread and gain momentum here are 9 famous conspiracy theories in the world.
1. New World Order
The New World Order theory stems from the belief that a group of international elites aim to control governments, industry, and media organizations, with the goal of establishing global hegemony. These elites are alleged to have staged or implicated some major world events like the major wars of the last two centuries in order to manipulate economies. Organizations alleged to be part of the plot include the US Federal Reserve System, the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, the European Union, the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, Bohemian Grove, Le Cercle and Yale University society Skull and Bones. Proponents of this theory also claim that the illuminati is a major part of this New World Order agenda and a wide range of musicians, including Beyoncé and Whitney Houston, have been used as tools to propagate this elaborate plot.
2. Antichrist
Apocalyptic and end time prophecies, especially in the christendom have for years claimed that the Antichrist will emerge, and he will be a leader who will supposedly create an oppressive world empire. Several figures have been called Antichrist, including Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, Russian emperor Peter the Great, Saladin, Pope John XXII, Benito Mussolini, Barack Obama, French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, and German Dictator Adolf Hitler.
3. Existence of Aliens
The question of the existence of alien life continues to be a debate among extraterrestrial life enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists. Allegations of government cover-ups of the supposed Roswell UFO incident or activity at Area 51 as well theories concerning so-called ‘men in black’, who allegedly silence witnesses have become prevalent over time. Multiple reports of dead cattle found with absent body parts and seemingly drained of blood have emerged worldwide since at least the 1960s. This phenomenon has spawned theories variously concerning aliens and secret government or military experiments.
4. Illuminati
Just as the New World Order, the Illuminati is believed to be an elite and secret organization seeking to create a dominant world totalitarian government with a single government. World governments and celebrities are strongly believed to be part of this organisation because of their influence on society. This belief has been strengthened by the amount of involvement of the government in private affairs of individuals.
5. Artificial diseases
The world is currently experiencing a ravaging pandemic and several theories have emerged about the virus being deliberately created and put into the world. This isn’t the first time that such allegations have come up, there is also a strong notion that diseases like HIV, Ebola among others were artificially created to wipe out a race or gain some form of economic advantage. These theories have been backed up by prominent people such as actor Steven Seagal, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and former South Africa President Thabo Mbeki. Similar conspiracy theories allege that pharmaceutical companies assist in the creation of conditions and diseases including ADHD, HSV and HPV.
6. Global warming
Not everyone believes in climate change and global warming, as a matter of fact, there is a global warming conspiracy theory that alleges that the science behind global warming has been invented or distorted for ideological or financial reasons. The U.S. President Donald Trump is a strong promoter of this theory as seen in his main statements. Other well known supporters include US Senator James Inhofe, British journalist Christopher Booker, and Viscount Christopher Monckton.
7. Flat Earth
Flat Earth theory first emerged in 19th-century England, despite the Earth’s spherical nature having been known since at least the time of Pythagoras. Flat-earth conspiracy theorists opine that planet Earth is not a sphere, and that evidence has been faked or suppressed to hide the fact that it is instead a disc, or a single infinite plane. Other claims may include such allegations as that GPS devices are rigged to make aircraft pilots wrongly believe they are flying around a globe.
8. False history
According to some theories, the dates of historical events have been deliberately fabricated or distorted. Two prominent theories in this school are German conspiracy theorist Heribert Illig and Russian theorist Anatoly Fomenko. The former published an allegation in 1991 that 297 years had been added to the calendar by establishment figures such as Pope Sylvester II in order to position themselves at the millennium. The latter is of the thought that history is many centuries shorter than is widely believed and that numerous historical documents have been fabricated, and legitimate documents destroyed, for political ends.
9. Rigged selection processes in sports
In Association football there has been “hot balls theory”, promoted by Scottish football manager David Moyes, which suggests that certain balls used in draws for UEFA competitions have been warmed to achieve specific outcomes. A similar theory can be found in the NBA with the “frozen envelope theory” which suggests that the National Basketball Association rigged it’s 1985 draft lottery so that Patrick Ewing would join the New York Knicks. Theorists claim that a lottery envelope was chilled so that it could be identified by touch.
