13 Nigerian Celebrities With More Than One Successful Career

When we think of celebrities, we often associate them with the one thing that made them famous. But some Nigerian stars have built careers across multiple industries, proving that talent doesn’t have to stay in one lane.

These are some of the Nigerian celebrities who have worn more than one hat throughout their careers:

  1. Gabriel Afolayan

Most people know Gabriel Afolayan as one of Nollywood’s finest actors. With standout performances in films such as Gold Statue, Coming from Insanity, and Citation, he has earned a reputation as a versatile performer.

However, acting is only one side of his career. Under the stage name G-Fresh, Gabriel is also an accomplished musician. Songs like Awelewa, Kokoro Ife, and Plug It have helped him build a loyal audience, proving that his talents extend far beyond the screen.

  1. Falz

Falz first gained widespread attention through music, thanks to his witty lyrics, social commentary, and hit songs like Soft Work, Karishika, and This Is Nigeria.

But his acting career has been equally impressive. From his memorable role in Jenifa’s Diary to appearances in films such as Chief Daddy and Brotherhood, Falz has become one of the few entertainers who can command attention both on stage and on screen. He won the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Movie or Series in 2016, and Best Supporting Actor in 2018, making him the first Nigerian musician to win that award twice.

  1. Bisola Aiyeola

Bisola Aiyeola became a household name after her appearance on Big Brother Naija, but her career stretches far beyond reality television.

She has established herself as a successful actress, appearing in numerous Nollywood productions, while also pursuing a music career. Her ability to sing, act, host shows, and entertain audiences across different platforms makes her one of Nigeria’s most versatile celebrities.

  1. Reminisce

Known for his distinctive voice and indigenous rap style, Reminisce has built a successful music career with hits that have earned him a place among Nigeria’s most respected rappers.

In recent years, he has also impressed audiences as an actor. His performances in productions such as King of Boys and Muri & Ko showed that he is just as comfortable in front of a camera as he is behind a microphone.

  1. Banky W

Before stepping into acting and politics, Banky W was already one of Nigeria’s biggest R&B stars. Songs like Strong Ting, Yes/No, and Lagos Party helped define an era of Nigerian music.

His transition into acting was equally successful, with notable appearances in The Wedding Party and Up North. Beyond entertainment, he has also made a name for himself in politics and entrepreneurship.

  1. Kate Henshaw

Kate Henshaw has been acting in Nollywood since the 1990s and has an Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress to her name.

Outside acting, she has built a strong reputation as a fitness enthusiast and wellness advocate. Through fitness campaigns, workout programmes, and health-related initiatives, she has successfully expanded her influence beyond the entertainment industry.

  1. Illbliss

Illbliss earned fame as a rapper with hit songs and a successful music career that spans over a decade.

In recent years, he has become one of the most talked-about musician-turned-actors in Nollywood. His performances in productions such as King of Boys and The Black Book earned praise from both critics and audiences, cementing his place in two industries.

  1. Nancy Isime

Nancy Isime is widely recognised as an actress, but her career began in modelling and pageantry.

Today, she is also one of Nigeria’s most successful television hosts. Through The Nancy Isime Show and numerous hosting gigs, she has built a thriving career that combines acting, presenting, and media entrepreneurship.

  1. Omawumi

Omawumi rose to fame as a singer and never really left that lane.

However, she co-founded a film production company with Waje, and has acted in multiple Nollywood films including Oloture, Night Bus to Lagos, and House of Gold. She is not someone who did one movie as a cameo. She has a production company, she acts, and she sings. Three things, all real.

  1. Chike

Many fans know Chike for his soulful music and chart-topping songs. He came into public consciousness through Project Fame and The Voice Nigeria, so music is where his story starts. But he also built a proper acting career with his role as Mayowa in the Africa Magic telenovela Battleground

His role in the television series Battleground introduced him to many viewers, while his music career later elevated him to national stardom.

  1. DSF

DSF is an actress best known for her role as Sophie in MTV Shuga, and for her appearances in Banana Island Ghost, Man of God, and The Black Book, but she is equally known as a DJ under the name Ms DSF. She has performed at the O2 Arena, hosted The Juice on NdaniTV, and built a DJ career that runs alongside the acting, not behind it.

  1. Waje

Waje is one of Nigeria’s most distinctive voices, known for songs like “I Wish” and “Coco Baby”. She is also an actress who co-founded a film production company with Omawumi. Their debut production, She Is, featured both of them in front of the camera.

Waje has also acted in Tunnel, Fifty, and Heaven’s Hell. Like Omawumi, she didn’t stumble into acting once and leave; there is a body of work on both sides.

  1. Temi Otedola

Temi Otedola launched JTO Fashion, her fashion blog, at 17 and built a real following around her style and lifestyle content before acting was ever part of the conversation.

When she made her Nollywood debut in Kunle Afolayan’s Citation in 2020, people paid attention, and she won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Ghana Movie Awards for it. She followed that up with a role in The Man for the Job.

She is the daughter of Femi Otedola, yes, but she has two distinct public careers that stand on their own.
