Some employers tend to pile on the work pressure in the last week of the month because it’s salary week; they suddenly do not believe in closing hours.
Here are 8 midnight texts from your boss that do not deserve a response till morning:
- “Hey. Can we quickly hop on a call?”

No, you can’t. There’s absolutely nothing quick about a work call; this will ruin your night. That conversation can wait till 9:00am.
- “I know you’re working remotely today, but you have to be present at the office”

The hybrid structure exists because work can still be effectively done from home. There is no real reason to drag you into the office.
- “I need 20 minutes of your time. Let’s review the report quickly”

First of all, it is never 20 minutes. Work conversations rarely stay short. Your night time should be respected; you deserve uninterrupted rest.
- “This is time sensitive. Kindly treat as urgent.”

Labeling everything as urgent creates unhealthy pressure. If every task becomes an emergency at midnight, you are never truly going to have the time to disconnect from work.
- “Are you with your laptop?”

You should never feel permanently on standby after working hours. You are allowed to exist outside the screens without the fear of being suddenly pulled back into work mode.
- “I’m adding you to a call in 10 minutes. Kindly join in”

This is not an invitation; it’s an ambush. Last minute calls, especially at midnight, assume your entire evening is automatically available for work discussions. It also ignores the fact that people mentally log out after a long day.
- “I have some ideas for the pitch. Are you free?”

Night time inspiration should not become everybody’s emergency. Creative discussions can wait till morning instead of interrupting your personal time because someone suddenly feels inspired at midnight.
- “I sent you an email earlier. Kindly respond asap.”

Sending an email at night should not come with the expectation of an immediate reply. Once work hours are over, people should be allowed to rest without feeling guilty for not checking their inbox every five minutes.
