July is almost here, and it’s bringing a lot of cake with it. Some of the biggest names in Nigerian entertainment are all celebrating this month.
Here’s who to keep in mind:
- Burna Boy (July 2nd)
The African Giant wastes no time kicking off July.
Burna Boy turns 35 next month, and fans already know the drill: throwback photos, Grammy clips, old “Like To Party” tweets, and endless debates about his greatest album.
- Johnny Drille (July 5th)
If soft life had a soundtrack, Johnny Drille would probably be singing it.
The singer-songwriter celebrates his 36th birthday on July 5th, giving fans another excuse to revisit the wholesome, acoustic world he’s built over the years. Expect heartfelt tributes, covers of his songs, and an outpouring of affection from listeners who found comfort in his music.
- Richard Mofe-Damijo, RMD (July 6th)
Aging like premium wine should honestly be renamed “doing an RMD.”
The Nollywood icon turns 65 on July 6th, and every birthday reminds Nigerians that charisma apparently has no expiration date. From classic films to modern blockbusters, RMD remains one of the most admired figures in entertainment.
- Rita Dominic (July 12th)
Rita Dominic’s birthdays always feel elegant, just like her career.
The actress, producer, and style icon turns 51 on July 12th. Over the years, she’s built a reputation for excellence both on and off the screen, earning the respect of colleagues and fans alike. Her birthday posts are usually a masterclass in grace and sophistication.
- Wizkid (July 16th)
Starboy szn arrives in the middle of July.
Wizkid’s birthday is one of the biggest celebrity moments on the Nigerian internet every year. Fans flood social media with appreciation posts, favourite lyrics, and memories stretching all the way back to the Superstar era. 36 years next month, and only a few artists command loyalty quite like he does.
- CKay (July 16th)
CKay also turns 31 on July 16 — same birthday as Wizkid, which is a fun fact people love to bring up. He is the man behind “Love Nwantiti”, which became one of the most streamed African songs in history after going viral on TikTok. Still building on that.
- Mr Eazi (July 19th)
Mr Eazi turns 35 this month. Married to Temi Otedola, founder of emPawa Africa, creator of Banku music — the man has been busy. He is one of the few artists who has built something beyond just a music career, and July is a good time to appreciate that.
- Kate Henshaw (July 19th)
Kate Henshaw turns 55 on the same day as Mr Eazi, and she remains one of the most effortlessly ageless people in Nigerian entertainment. She has been acting since 1993, won major awards, and has made fitness a genuine part of her public identity. 55 and still doing all of it.
- Israel Adesanya (July 22nd)
Israel Adesanya turns 37 this month. He was born in Lagos, moved to New Zealand as a teenager, became a two-time UFC Middleweight Champion, and is one of the most recognisable Nigerian athletes in the world right now.
