Adekunle Gold is back with his sixth album Fuji—15 tracks that pay homage to the Lagos sound many of us grew up on.
Before the album dropped, we already vibed to singles like Obimo, Coco Money, Bobo but now that the full project is here, the magic is in how the songs are sequenced.
It’s not just an album; it’s a journey.
And what’s interesting is that the name Fuji isn’t only about the genre. Adekunle explained that it started as an acronym “Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside” and fuji has always been part of his DNA. Even from his debut album Gold, you could hear traces of that raw Lagos rhythm peeking through.
In his words:
Fuji is just the sound of Lagos. I grew up on it.
On Fuji, he leans fully into Yoruba oral traditions like apala, fuji ,tungba while weaving in his signature storytelling. What I love is how AG never shies away from showing off his roots. He says it best.
From Orente to now, Adekunle Gold has kept evolving but this project feels different, it feels like home.

What stands out about AG is how he reinvents himself every season. One moment it’s alternative vibes, another it’s Afropop and now he’s giving us pure Lagos heartbeat with Fuji.
So put your headphones on, hit play and whatever you do, don’t skip.
